Step by step guide on shock installation in a RV

Shock absorbers are essential for the utmost protection of your RV. Your RV will travel through various terrains and it’s only common that it has to encounter several bumps enroute. A sudden land on a bumper could do severe damage to your vehicle if it’s not adequately fortified. A shock absorber will absorb the sudden impact here and keep your vehicle safe all through the way.

Are you looking forward to equip your RV with shock absorber? Well, shock installation is no rocket science and your basic mechanical skills will be adequate here. Here is a step-by-step guide on shock installation in a RV.

Step 1

First, you will have to loosen the lower mount bolt of the shock absorber. Move it in anti-clockwise direction.

Step 2

Now, go to the upper mount bolt. Follow the same anti-clockwise movement to remove it. If your RV has mount plate for shock, you have to remove it by turning vertical screws (two) anti-clockwise. Now, pull out the plate. After that, remove lower mount bolt.

Step 3

Next, take out existing shock from suspension as you will slide in a new piece here. Slide your new shock into top mount. You can place it between eyelet mounts or against mount plate. Now, take your upper mount nut. Slide the nut into eyelet and fasten it with a clockwise movement.

While you are getting new shock units for your RV, how about getting a fresh piece for other car accessories as well, say a seatbelt?
